KEVEN

 Keven is a lifelong resident of the City of Newport News where he still currently resides with his wife and children. As a young adult, Keven had a desire to serve the community that he has loved for so long. Growing up he attended First Baptist Church in Newport News. Keven has served as a public safety officer as well as held highly responsible positions in the financial industry. As a working class, family man Keven understands the need for job growth and continued success for The City of Newport News.

As a homeowner, tax payer and a family man I understand the need of my fellow citizens to have a productive and appealing community to reside and raise their families. It is my sincerest hope that you will join me in changing our city's future in 2014. I am running based on three distinct platforms. Abandoned/dilapidated structures, I understand that in hard economic times buildings are often left condemned or empty for long periods of time. But this breeds hangouts and unsavory environments, especially near schools or bus stops where our children could be affected. Public safety, in my six years as an officer with our city, I worked hard to bridge the gaps between community and police. I want to work side by side with our Law Enforcement Heroes and ensure a continuing and understanding relationship. Last but not least traffic problems and road conditions. Every one of us in the Denbigh area knows how long it can take to get home in the evenings. We also have had to cope with the potholes, cracked sidewalks and unpainted lanes that plague our city. Areas that are considering conditional use permits for businesses need to be assessed for traffic related issues. There are far too many intersections that are inaccessible at certain times of the day. This is a problem that has gotten out of hand and needs to be worked on immediately. My fellow citizens, I do not claim to have all the answers, but I do know that I am willing to go the distance to make things better. On May 6th, I am asking for your support as a citizen, family man, former law enforcement officer and most of all as your neighbor. I believe in what we can be, will you help me get us there?
